The WA State Government has released ‘Resilient Families, Strong Communities: A roadmap for regional and remote Aboriginal communities’.
This is a long-term reform initiative to improve the lives of Aboriginal people in Western Australia. The roadmap contains 10 priority actions that the Western Australian Government is taking in partnership with Aboriginal people and others to strengthen families, improve living conditions, increase job prospects and accelerate student progress at school.
State Government investment will be concentrated in places where there are jobs and education, with some smaller remote Aboriginal communities supported to become self-sufficient over time.
A long-term plan of the Reform Unit “is high-functioning regional networks, based around towns and ensuring minimum standards for basic services in larger remote Aboriginal communities”.
